Why do we have to wait on what could be a false hope that HP issues new drivers on 10/26? I agree Cat that if HP wanted to issue new drivers for Windows 8 they easily could. But I came to the conclusion that I am deluding myself. I held out some hope that HP would issue a Windows 8 compatible driver after Windows 8 GA (10/26). For me not having the ability to scan was the last straw. I try to scan all my docs into the computer to get rid of clutter and safety as well. My former HP printer would only print not scan with the MS drivers installed. Bottom line is I have a non-functioning webcam on that laptop right now unless I reinstall Windows 7 on it. Then I received an error message saying the program is incompatible with Windows 8. The last time I tried it in compatibility mode, 1st attempt was based on XP SP3 and the last attempt was made on Windows 7 mode. Several times I have tried to download the HP Windows 7 driver for it. May have to consider upgrading my router to one that has a USB port for printing access to all computers.Ĭat, I have a webcam on that laptop. I wished whoever tossed the printer that TM mentioned did so by my door, now having 4 working computers, could use another one. I've noticed that the newer generations costs less at Wal Mart (budget model, like mine is).

Windows Update installed the initial print & scan drivers, then directed me to the Kodak site for the full install package (recommended, but optional). Prints pictures as good as the chain drug stores does, either directly from the printer, or the computer, if touchup is needed. It's not an expensive printer, but it does all that I need of it, & has the lowest cost of ink replacements (brand name ink, I don't mess with refurb refills) of any printer that I've owned. Everything the printer is designed to do works on Win 8. And has received two firmware/app updates since, direct from Kodak. The Full program for the printer installed on the very first attempt, on 02/29. I can personally vouch that Kodak's AIO printers are compatible with Windows 8, as that's my printer (Kodak ESP 3250 AIO).
